BEASTHOOD (The Hidden Blood Series - Book 1)
by A.Z. Green
This post is dedicated to a book I spent reading deep into the night, and I can totally say it was worth it! A.Z. Green is a gifted writer, and I can't wait to read more books by her. In my humble opinion, BEASTHOOD is a highly marketable installment, and it will definitely appeal to YA, NA and Adult fans of paranormal and Were.
I had a great time reading Beasthood by A.Z. Green. I had no idea what to expect from this book before reading it, but after the Prologue and a few chapters I knew it would be an enjoyable journey.

Jaz, the main
character, is tormented by a nightmare where she has a miscarriage. All of a
sudden, an aunt she’s never known arrives at her place and takes her away. Jaz
finds out she’s been kidnapped, and she has to go through terrifying ordeals
before her kidnappers inform her of her true identity, and of her twin sister
Lora who died after giving birth to a stillborn child.
Jaz learns about a
Were world she knew nothing about, and soon she’s pulled into a dangerous game
as a possible mate for Nik Driver, the Pack Leader. There is a traitor within
their pack who assists the neighbouring rival pack, and no one knows who he/she
is. I had several possible suspects throughout the book—my list was
changing—but I still didn’t figure out who the traitor is as the author didn’t
reveal the one.
A.Z. Green has
crafted an impressive manuscript with a cast of memorable and relatable
characters. Jaz is without a doubt my favourite character. She’s brave,
passionate, hard-to-intimidate, and still vulnerable. Nik Driver is quite a mysterious, but still likable character. There are a few scenes in the book
where they argue heatedly, and Jaz is not sure whether she loves him or not,
and also trying to deny her feelings for Nik because of Lora. I must say I’ve
enjoyed those scenes immensely. The book is also abundant in action scenes and
fights, which makes it a real page-turner.
Beasthood is written
in the omniscient point of view where the author provides the readers with the
thoughts and feeling of the main characters, giving a much broader view of what
is happening in each scene. There is a lot of detailed description of the rooms
and minor characters, which shows that the author has a clear picture of what
and who she writes about. I’m sure Beasthood will appeal to Young Adult and New
Adult readers. I look forward to reading the sequel.
